Movie Nation Festivals

We are, Movie Nation Festivals, LLC, a film festival and entertainment industry related, live-event production and exhibition company. Movie Nation Festivals and its subsidiary club, The Movie Nation Film Society were created to embrace and celebrate the popular genres of filmmaking in a theme-specific environment. That means we don’t play the insert-favorite-name-of-city international film festival name game with multiple categories of homogenized competition. There is already enough of that out there. We are not in the business of being a Hollywood showcase event, like certain popular festivals in Utah. What we are is an organization that cares about independent filmmakers, film fans, and the many talented writers, artists and craftspersons that make certain movies intriguing and enjoyable. We endeavor to put on a show that draws together an audience with a common thread by offering specific theme oriented entertainment and educational opportunities. We are interested in the novice and the student, as well as the working professional filmmaker. We care about the fan and we embrace any subject matter that’s fun, visual and has a rabid cult following.

With our mantra firmly in place, it was only natural that our first event be dedicated to the “escapist genres.” Hence the name: The 2005 Festival of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror and the Supernatural. This event is designed to embrace the aforementioned themes that are literally its namesake. All of us here at Movie Nation Festivals feel that this subject matter, despite being incredible box office moneymakers, are often neglected or not taken seriously when it comes time to recognize achievement in filmmaking.

There are well over 1,000 film festivals held in the United States every year and less than 20 of them are specifically related to the themes we are recognizing and celebrating. Most of those festivals happen around Halloween. This one will be different and its success will allow our organization to grow and offer other themed events as well as provide film related educational opportunities to those who want to develop their skills and hone their craft.
